The Hidden Cost of “I Don’t Have Time”

“I don’t have time.”

Hello Beautiful Soul,

It’s a sentence I used to say on repeat — quietly, automatically, every day.

I said it when friends invited me out.

I said it when I thought about taking a walk, reading a book, or just sitting down for a moment.

After both of my divorces — and especially after losing Darron — those four words became my armour. They made me feel productive, in control, safe.

But really, they were hiding something deeper — I’d forgotten how to make time for myself.

And sometimes, I still catch myself saying it — which always makes me pause and ask, “What am I avoiding?”

The truth behind “I don’t have time”

When your life has been turned upside down, it’s easy to fill every hour.

You stay busy because stillness feels strange — maybe even scary.

You convince yourself that once the to-do list is finished, you’ll rest.

But somehow, that moment never comes.

The hidden cost of “I don’t have time” is that you slowly disappear from your own life.

Your needs slide to the bottom of the list.
Joy becomes optional.
And exhaustion becomes normal.

The quiet shift that changes everything

Here’s the truth that finally hit me:
Time isn’t the problem — disconnection is.

When you reconnect with what truly matters to you, time starts to open again.

It’s not about squeezing more hours into the day; it’s about choosing what fills those hours with meaning.

Time expands when your energy aligns with joy.

And that begins with one gentle question:

“What would make me feel a little lighter today?”

Maybe it’s sitting in the sun with your coffee instead of scrolling.

Maybe it’s saying no to something that drains you.

Maybe it’s remembering what used to make you smile — and letting yourself do it again.

A simple practice to reclaim your time

Pause for just one minute.

Close your eyes.
Breathe deeply.

Notice the weight of your shoulders, the rhythm of your breath, the space between each thought.

Now ask yourself, “Where am I giving my time away out of guilt or habit — and what would it feel like to give some back to me?”

This small act of awareness creates an instant shift.

It’s not about finding time — it’s about making space to be you again.

The gentle balance of Time & Money Flow

After divorce, time and money often carry the same emotional weight: scarcity, fear, and the feeling that there’s never enough.

But when you begin treating both as energy — things that respond to attention and boundaries — they start to flow again.

When you value your time, you naturally make better choices with your money.

When you invest your energy in what lights you up, opportunities expand.

It’s not about control. It’s about connection — the heart of true balance.

With quiet confidence,
